The Collections

The library offers you free of charge versatile collections, modern appliances and information retrieval methods, library facilities and the expertise of the staff members.

You are welcome to the library to borrow, to study, to use appliances, to read magazines and books or to participate in different events and literary evenings.

Our collection consists books, newspapers, magazines, audiobooks, cd-records, cd-roms, maps, language courses etc.

Loan periods:

Books, audiobooks, cd:s 4 weeks

Magazines, cd-roms 2 weeks

Videotapes, dvd:s 1 week

In Finland Public libraries are also responsible for the acquisition of books published in the so-called major languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish).

Alavus city library belongs to a group called Oiva, with the neighbouring libraries.  Materials from one to another can be borrowed by the same card.

Materials can be returned to a materials return chute if the library is closed. You may renew materials five times, except those which are on hold.
Items can be reserved or renewed by phone, through website with your codes or via the library.
